Blarney

This is Blarney Castle. The home of the famous Blarney Stone. I really had no idea what this was all about until we got to the top of the castle where the stone is located. The castle is an old medieval castle, not unlike many others. We did take this little tiny winding staircase to the to the top of the castle and along the way we saw various different rooms of the castle and could read about the uses of those rooms. Very interesting to imagine life in those times, living in this cold dark castle.
So here is the Blarney stone, it was set into the castle in 1446 when the castle was built and legend has it that those who kiss the blarney stone will be given the gift of eloquence and skill at flattery, so of course we had to give it a go. I have no idea why the stone was put in such an ususual place!
You may not be able to tell but it is hanging out over the edge of the top of the castle about 500 feet in the air or so. I don't know but it was high! Well worth it for the gift of eloquence which I am sure you will now see in my writing! While it is just a silly rock, it was actually really fun to kiss the stone. Its a rush looking strait down at the ground 500 feet below!
The castle grounds also have a very impressive rock garden that we also were able to tour.
There is also quite a bit of magic in this garden. Here is Hannah and Renee sitting on top of an ancient witches lair. It is said that if you go there in the early morning you will still to this day see the burning embers of the witches fire. Hannah is making a very convincing witch wouldn't you say...
